How much does a Quooker tap cost?

contemporary kitchen design appliance

Quooker has a wide range of products. Their taps range from 1410 – 2090 depending on the style and type of tap you select, but you cannot take this price at face value as there are also many accessories, add ons and additional features that can alter that figure.

From our previous articles, you should be well informed on what a Quooker tap is and how it works. When we consider cost, it’s important to look at all the factors that affect it.

In this article, we will explore the outright cost of a tap vs the time and energy-saving benefits.

Quooker Sustainability

Although at first glance, the cost of a Quooker tap can seem a little high in comparison to traditional fixtures, there are some large cost savings due to Quooker’s outstanding energy efficiency.

The way a Quooker tap works is to boil water to 110° C constantly, and the water sits ready to be dispensed at any time. Once a certain amount of water is used more cold water is fed into the tank and is heated to the same temperature. Because of Quooker’s’ patented thermal-controlled technology, only the required amount of energy needed is used to heat and regulate the temperature of the water.

In comparison to powering a kettle a few times a day or boiling water on the hob, a Quooker tap is far more efficient both in terms of protecting the environment and energy consumption.

Another way the Quooker tap has become a more sustainable option is with the introduction of the Quooker cube. The Quooker cube is an add-on accessory that allows for chilled still or sparkling filtered water to be dispensed from the same tap as boiling or tepid water.

The average person consumes 156 disposable bottles of water per year, so in a household this number becomes considerable. By dispensing still or chilled water from the tap, Quooker has eliminated the need for disposable plastic bottles, which in turn has a substantial effect on the environment.

What does it cost to run a Quooker?

It has been calculated that water taps contribute 60% of standard households’ energy bills. To boil a single cup of water in a kettle will cost in the region of 1.5c, that price is significantly increased if the kettle is full. To boil a litre of water in a kettle will cost nearly 8c.

*Based on the current price for a unit of electricity being 39c per kWh. (Energy Saving Trust, January 2023).

Based on the same unit of electricity a Quooker tap costs 4c per day to run, and supplementing that you do not have to wait for hot water, which if you value your time also must come into the equation.

Quooker is able to achieve this level of energy efficiency because they use their own high-vacuum insulation which keeps water at the right temperature; this technology is patented and only available with Quooker Products.
